CAIRO – October 26, 2020: Egypt recorded a 92.3 percent recovery rate from the new coronavirus (COVID-19) with 98,903 cases recovered in isolation hospitals across the country, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Egyptian health Thursday.

The ministry said 143 new cases of coronavirus were detected, raising the number of infections since the virus outbreak to 106,540 cases.

Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said 12 patients died from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 6,199.

Up to 90 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, bringing the number of recovered cases to 98,903 so far, the spokesman said.

Egypt had witnessed a slight increase in the daily coronavirus case count in recent weeks, reversing a low of 89 on August 22, the lowest daily number of infections since early April.

The slight increase in cases comes as the government repeatedly urged caution to avoid a second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the arrival of fall.
