Kenya exempts Tanzanians from mandatory quarantine

The Health Ministry has reviewed its Covid-19 trends and exempted Tanzanian citizens from the mandatory 14-day quarantine when they arrive in the country.

This is after the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) listed Tanzania among the states and territories whose travelers to the country will be exempt from quarantine.

KCAA has updated the list of countries exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement to 147.

Previously, Tanzanians arriving in Kenya were not allowed to mingle freely with the public until the 14-day quarantine period ended.

This resulted in a diplomatic dispute between the two countries, largely caused by the lack of agreement on the Covid-19 protocols to be followed in the cross-border movement of people and goods.

Tanzania then banned Kenyan airlines from its airspace, arguing that it would not lift the ban unless air travelers from Tanzania received the same treatment as those on the initial list of exemptions.
