There seems to be nothing Apple can’t work its magic on.
After modernizing the mp3 player, normalizing digital downloads, and dragging the mobile industry into the era of smartphones, the tech giant has also been constantly reinventing the watch since the first Apple Watch in 2014.
Now more like a wearable smartphone, the Apple Watch can already tell time, make calls, and run apps, so what else could the Series 6 do?
Quite, it turns out.
When is the Apple Watch Series 6 released?
The sixth iteration of the Apple Watch to be revealed at the Apple event ‘Time Flies’ in September 15, 2020.
Previous models have been available for pre-order during Apple’s reveal event, with a physical release a week or two later, so expect the Series 6 to hit shelves in end of September 2020.
What is the price of the Apple Watch Series 6?
We expect the Apple Watch Series 6 to be similar to the Series 5 price, which starts at £ 399.
However, you can customize your Apple Watch for a price – a cellular edition costs around £ 529, while a Series 5 with a stainless steel case will cost you £ 799. The Series 6 will likely follow a similar model, so be prepared to pay a little more for a custom smartwatch.
What are the specifications of the Apple Watch Series 6?
The biggest design change is rumored to be a change from an OLED screen to a microLED, and since microLEDS are thinner, brighter, and more energy efficient, this would result in an Apple Watch that is thinner and more it has a better battery life. Better yet, the Series 6 is rumored to get a bigger battery anyway – a mysterious new Apple 303.8mAh battery was leaked in Korea, as opposed to the Series 5’s 296mAh capacity.
There’s a big reason why Apple is suddenly so concerned about battery life: sleep tracking. This long-requested feature is coming to watchOS 7 this fall, and with a larger battery, the Series 6 can track heart rate, movement, and more during sleep. The tracking doesn’t stop there – the Series 6 is said to offer blood oxygen level monitoring, which could warn users if they are in a cardiac arrest or panic attack, which may be linked to other rumors about the track anxiety and stress.
With a focus on health and fitness, the Apple Watch is also said to be more waterproof for tracking activities like swimming, as well as the ability to send alerts if you’re in danger of drowning. Finally, the Apple Watch is also rumored to include a faster processor, improved parental controls, and Touch ID built right into the screen.
Can I pre-order the Apple Watch Series 6?
Pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 6 are not yet available; check back on September 15.
Should I buy the Apple Watch Series 5 or wait for the Series 6?
If you want to buy an Apple Watch Series 5 now you can:
However, with the Series 6 launch so close, you may want to wait; The 6 Series will likely be priced similarly, but will offer new features like better battery life and blood oxygen level monitoring. Alternatively, the Series 5 will also see a price drop once its successor is launched.
