A few days after filming was resumed the “The batman, “Production has been put on hiatus again, because the film’s star tested positive for coronavirus. Robert Pattinson, who plays Bruce Wayne in the film, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in quarantine.
Warner Bros. confirmed in a statement to CBS News on Thursday that filming was “temporarily paused” because “a member of the ‘The Batman’ production tested positive for COVID-19.” He added that the person “is isolating himself according to established protocols.”
Warner Bros. declined to comment on anyone’s health, but after Vanity Fair first reported that Pattinson tested positive, several other outlets confirmed the news.
A representative for Pattinson did not immediately respond to CBS News’ request for comment.
Production on “The Batman” began in September before closing in March due to the pandemic. Much of the film industry has struggled to adapt new precautions and security restrictions, and many movies continue to push back their release dates.
According to Variety, team members are still working to build sets and accessories at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, near London. However, the team members who were in contact with Pattison are in quarantine and Warner Bros. confirmed to CBS News that production has not resumed without Pattinson, contrary to what was previously reported.
Workers told Variety that they continue to believe that Warner Bros. is taking every possible precaution to keep the cast and crew safe on set.
“The behavior of the UK cast and crew has been exemplary,” Lyndsay Duthie, CEO of the Production Guild of Great Britain, told Variety. “Wanting to get back to work, everyone has taken the comprehensive measures required of them and as a result, many productions have returned to the set and been filmed safely for weeks. Where we have seen productions abroad where a cast or a member of the crew has tested positive, the necessary precautions have been taken so that they can start filming again as soon as they have the go-ahead. “
Pattinson, 34, was cast as the Caped Crusader early last year after Ben Affleck gave up all involvement in the film.
Since his breakout roles as Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and Edward Cullen in the series “Twilight”, Pattinson has spent several years pursuing smaller roles such as “The Lost City of Z”, “Good Time” , “High Life” and “The lighthouse”.
In addition to Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Zoe kravitz Selina Kyle / Catwoman is playing, Paul Dano is Edward Nashton / Riddler, Jeffrey Wright is James Gorden Andy Serkis is Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell is Oswald Cobblepot / Penguin.
Matt Reeves is directing the film, which is currently due for release in October 2021.
