Ethiopia’s health ministry said on Monday it had not registered any new cases of yellow fever in the country as of April 27.

A statement by Health Minister Lia Tadesse said the outbreak, which started with an index case on March 3, had been contained.

“The outbreak is already contained on March 29, 2020 and so far there have been zero cases reported,” the statement read in part.

According to Tadesse, the ministry reported 86 confirmed cases and four deaths from the disease.

Tadesse added that approximately 27,178 people received the disease vaccine and an active case search was conducted in 1,257 homes and two schools in five districts of the Enemorina Eaner district in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region (SNNP).

“Experts from the Ethiopian Institute of Public Health, regional and zonal health offices supported the response at ground level,” the statement said.
