Elvis Costello announces new album to Hey Clockface, shares new song: Listen

Elvis Costello has announced his next album: Hey Clockface and it arrives on October 30 via Concord. Costello also shared a new track titled “We Are All Cowards Now.” Listen to it below, and scroll down for the new LPs tracklist and cover art.

Hey Clockface included “No Flag” and “Hetty O’Hara Confidential.” Costello recorded the new album in Helsinki, Paris and New York. The album features Elvis Costello’s longtime bandmate Steve Nieve, as well as Bill Frisell, Nels Cline, Mickaél Gasche, Pierre-François “Titi” Dufour, and more.

“I sang live on the studio floor, directing from the focal booth,” Costello said of the new album in a press release. ‘We released nine songs in two days. We spoke very little. Almost everything the musicians played was a spontaneous reaction to the song I was singing. I had a dream to record like that in Paris, one day. He continued:

I wanted to write “Helsinki-Paris – ???” on the plate mantle it was a perfume like an advertising agency. “London” was a possibility for the third city, but London is forever. We will be there again. Michael sent this music to me from New York at the perfect time. It connected to elements in both of the previous sessions and completed the image.

I wanted the record to be lively, whether to play the songs demands that were loud and crazy or intimate and beautiful.

Elvis Costello & the Imposters released their latest studio album Look now in 2018.
