The American music system Dolly Parton comes forward to speak out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and speak out against those who oppose it.
During a recent interview with Billboard, de Jolene crooner, 74, spoke about the deep-rooted problem of the country with racism and the inability of some individuals to acknowledge the wrongs and make necessary amendments to their views.
‘I understand people need to make themselves known and felt and seen. And of course, Black case lives on. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones who matter? No! “She said.
Her remarks come days after the recent unrest in America spiraled over escalating racial crime and police brutality when George Floyd was assassinated.
Immediately afterwards, bands like The Dixie Chicks and The Chicks rebranded over the connection of the word Dixie with the Civil War South.
“There is such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of it. When they said ‘Dixie’ was an insulting word, I thought, ‘Well, I do not want to offend anyone. This is in business. We’ll just call it The Stampede. ‘Once you realize that [something] is a problem, you need to fix it. Do not be dumb [expletive]. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting someone on purpose, ”Parton said.
She also talked about the non-judgmental perspective she has in life: ‘First of all, I’m not a judgmental person. I believe we all have the right to be exactly who we are, and this is not my place to judge. “
‘All these good Christian people who are to be such good Christian people, the last thing we need to do is to judge each other. God is the judge, not us. I’m just trying to be myself. I try to let everyone else be themselves, ‘she added.
