DHSS Reports 59 New Alaska COVID-19 Cases and 7 Nonresident Cases


ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Alaska State Department of Health and Social Services has announced 59 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska.

DHSS reports that 499 non-residents tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of seven from Thursday. The total count of resident cases is 2,249.

DHSS reports that the cases recovered are at 800, with 1,430 cases active. Additionally, there are 111 total hospitalizations, and to date 19 Alaska residents have died with COVID-19 since March 2020.

Currently 37 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 or are under investigation.

The new case counts are outside the following areas of the state:

  • Anchorage Township (33)
  • Ketchikan Gateway Township (4)
  • Fairbanks North Star District (6)
  • Kenai Peninsula District (7)
  • Juneau (2)
  • Matanuska-Susitna Municipality (1)
  • Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (1)
  • Bethel (1)
  • Nome (1)
  • Valdez-Córdoba Census Area (2)
  • Yakutat plus Hoonah-Angoon (1)
