Nick McGlashan, The third generation fisherman who starred in “Deadliest Catch” has died … TMZ has learned.
The medical examiner and family told TMZ … Nick died in Nashville on Sunday. The cause of death has not been determined.
Nick appeared on the show in 78 episodes over the years … from 2013 to 2020.
Nick’s family has a story of the sea. His great uncle was a U.S. citizen. Worked on the first boat in the crab industry. He had two aunts … one of whom got lost in the sea after the boat sank.
Like Nick … he started crabbing at the age of 13. Nick quickly earned his belt and the cape was running cautiously … finally upgraded to Summer Bay.
Nick was the uncontrollable guy on the boat. Nothing could stop him … pain, nothing. He never gave up … even when the boat had a dangerous mechanical problem.
He struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years … it got so bad that he was suspended from season 13 and ended up in rehab. To make matters worse he said he was drinking half a gallon of vodka and firing with one gram of meth and 2 grams of heroin in a single day. He tried hard to stay healthy and said he was trying to inspire others to be pure.
The show has seemed a bit unfocused in recent episodes. We broke the story … Mahlon Rez Then died back August A heart attack occurs.
Nick was 33. RIP
