German Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz extend proposed subsidies to maintain jobs for up to 24 months. The measure would cost the government an additional 10 billion euros ($ 12 billion).

Philippines Eyes Open Reopens Despite Virus (2:59 PM HK)
The Philippines is looking further reopening their economy, even as coronavirus infections continue to increase, after an interview revealed that adult unemployment was at a record high last month.
The government wants to allow more economic activity and expand aid to small businesses to 27.3 million Filipinos in a Social Weather Stations survey in July saying they were unemployed, said Presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
President Rodrigo Duterte will announce whether to extend or reduce the restrictions before the stricter sidewalks are implemented in metropolitan Manila and nearby provinces on Tuesday, Roque said.
