Coronavirus detected on frozen seafood packaging in China: report

The new coronavirus was found on the packaging of frozen seafood shipped from Ecuador to China, according to a report.

The shipment came from the city of Dalian, which recently fought a spate of cases, via Reuters. Three companies in the port city of Yantai bought reported the seabirds.

Yantai city officials said the shipping came from an imported shipment that arrived “in Dalian” but did not list the origin, the outlet wrote.

Dalian customs officials found the new virus on Ecuador’s shrimp packaging in July, urging China to stop imports from three Ecuadorian shrimp producers, according to Reuters.

While some of the purchased seabirds were processed for export, the rest were stored and the market has not yet entered, Yantai government members said.

Officials seized the goods and those who treated the seabirds were under quarantine and negative testing, the government said.
