Around 6 in the afternoon this Tuesday, a young man died after falling from one of the railings of the Pumarejo bridge, on the side of the Barranquilla exit to Santa Marta.
The victim was identified as Juan Camilo García, 18 years old. According to what was stated by people present at the scene, the young man was with a group of friends in one of the access areas to the viaduct.
“The boy lost his balance and stability; It fell into the sand on the banks of the Magdalena River. They had a while there, “said a witness to the events.
The victim presented severe head trauma, fractures and multiple injuries in different parts of the body, when hitting the ground, which would show that his death occurred instantly at the scene of the events.
Police officers arrived at the site where the emergency occurred and cordoned off the site until uniformed officers from the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) carried out the removal of the young man’s body and announced the investigation of the case.

After presenting this accident, the National Institute of Vías (Invías) indicated that the new Pumarejo bridge does not present any deformation or anomaly.
He indicated that the emergency occurred in an area near the beam of the public space ramp that emerges from the main bridge and lowers pedestrians and bicycles to the floor area.
