In 2015, a woman lived one of the best days of her life, she was about to graduate as a psychologist. Unfortunately, the happiness was short-lived: her partner beat her brutally. And it wasn’t the first or the last time.
“The day I submitted my degree thesis as a psychologist, I was a victim of domestic violence by my ex-husband, who hit me several times with fists, kicks, on my face and all over my body. This person tried to force me to the apartment where we lived. However, thanks to the help of the neighbors, he didn’t make it, or else I wouldn’t be telling the storyHe would have already died ”, he said.
Her face that day, instead of showing happiness, reflected the violence of the man she married and even had a daughter.
The subject was captured by the Bogotá authorities, but a few days later he was released due to expiration of terms. From that day on, the psychologist’s ordeal dragged on.
According to the complaints filed, on other occasions the now ex-husband kicked her, punched her, butted her head and even tried to hang her.
With courage, she managed to get away from the one who hurt her so much, but in 2017 a complaint appeared that he filed in which he alleged that she was the aggressor. In other words, she went from being a victim of domestic violence to a victimizer, according to the authorities.
Although she has gone to various entities and feels that they have not listened to her, she has a message for all those who suffer the same ordeal: “I want to invite all women who are experiencing similar situations to report it. It is difficult, but justice is accessible. We cannot continue to risk our lives ending up in the hands of an assailant”.
In the next few days, she will return to court, this time to defend herself not from the man who mistreated her, but from the arguments of justice that point to her as a victimizer and not as a victim of domestic violence.
