At 8:30 am on December 25, residents of the Sierra Morena neighborhood in Ciudad Bolívar (Bogotá) witnessed an accident that shocked the entire country. A tanker truck overturned and fell on the car of the Chilatá Arana family, in which 6 people were mobilized: parents and their four children.
Pitifully, the father and one of the little ones died from the accident. The mother and her other three children are being treated at a hospital. One of the minors is in an intensive care unit and another is under observation, according to Noticias Caracol confirmed.
One of the neighbors who led the first rescue efforts of the children who were in the back of the car spoke with this means of communication. The man claimed the tanker was traveling at high speed seconds before overturning.
“That car (the tanker) came to all. It was coming at full speed. He took the cart, knocked the pole down. The post was the one that stopped the car, or if not, there would be an exit to the other neighborhood, “said the neighbor on the news.
Similarly, the man said he referred to the help he gave along with other neighbors to help minors. “We started helping the three children. All small. Among the neighbors we took the three out. The children were serious, more than all the little one, the 3-year-old. We couldn’t get the driver out. The accident was terrible“, He detailed.
