The opportunity to enter the Industrial University of Santander during this second academic period may now be possible thanks to a temporary provision to grant unassigned places in the admission process.
This transitory provision, approved by Agreement No. 324 of September 1, 2020, will allow young people from Santander and other departments of the country to fulfill their dream of being professionals in the UIS.
Applicants enrolled in the call must take, free of charge, a training course in generic competencies, at the end of which a qualifying test will be practiced in which applicants will be organized in descending order of score to give them the option to select the program to be taken, among those with available places.
The academic programs available for the process are: Bachelor of Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Music, Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Philosophy, Mathematics and Economics.
The training course and the qualifying test have a duration of 3 weeks, with a daily intensity of 4 contact hours and 2 hours of individual work. It will be developed remotely in person, through the Zoom platform, and will address 4 of the generic skills modules: critical reading, written communication, citizen skills and quantitative reasoning.
Requirements
* Have a bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree obtained abroad, validated in accordance with the provisions of resolutions 631 and 6571 of 1977 and 2985 of 1993 of the Ministry of National Education, the regulations that modify, replace or add.
* Not having a degree from an undergraduate program (Professional Technician – Professional or Professional Technologist).
* Not have current enrollment in a public higher education institution.
How are the admitted ones selected?
The selection of applicants will be made taking into account the results obtained in the qualifying test that will be held once the training course ends and up to the maximum number of places available.
A list will be organized and published with the applicants who passed the test in descending order, according to the result obtained in the qualifying test. And a shift will be assigned following the order established in the published list.
To participate in the qualifying test, the applicant enrolled in the training course must attend at least 80% of the training course.
For the Bachelor of Music program
The admission process for the Bachelor of Music program includes two phases. In the first, a list will be made with the applicants who choose one of the places offered for this program.
Applicants who enter the first phase will continue in the second phase of the process, which corresponds to the presentation of the Aptitude and Musical Knowledge Test, defined by the School of Arts.
The available places will be assigned to those who obtain the best results in the Aptitude and Musical Knowledge test.
