The mayor of Cartagena, William Dau, announced through his social networks a decision in which until now had been irreducible: the departure from the District of Cynthia Pérez Amador, first lady of the city, and symbol of inclusion of Afro communities in the Palacio de la Aduana.
The official reported through his social networks that Cynthia Pérez will no longer have a contract in the District, after knowing that he would have falsified his study certificates.

“At the beginning of this year a first scandal was uncovered due to an alleged false labor certification. Now a more forceful document has come out that I cannot ignore: The mayor’s office of human talent asked the internal control office to verify the veracity of the documents presented by Cynthia in order to obtain a contract. Well, the internal control office asked the Costa Rican University Corporation (IAFIC) to confirm the veracity of her study certificates, but the university responded that these certificates are not true “said Mayor Dau in a video widely disseminated on social media.

The falsehood in the university degrees of the former first lady is the final blow to the criticized contract of this administration with the woman, which was the spearhead of William Dau’s ‘Save Together Cartagena’ campaign.
“Unless later Cynthia managed to certify that if her transcripts are true, With the pain in my soul, Cynthia no longer goes to the mayoralty of Let’s save Cartagena together, and I say it with a broken heart not only because of the affection I have for her but also because of the hard work that she had been doing in front of the honorary title of first lady, involved in the neighborhoods, she was the one who represented me, that’s why I’m so disappointed, “added the president.
The first scandal with Pérez Amador arose at the beginning of this year when the Attorney General’s Office drew attention to the value of the salary he received under the OPS modality.

The Public Ministry indicated that the official earned a salary of 77 million pesos for an 11-month contract. However, for the supervisory body, this fee does not correspond to the titles as technologist that Pérez Amador had presented. The Attorney General’s Office assured that he should earn 24 million pesos for his educational level.
For the Attorney General, the offense committed by the former official is extremely serious.
“You have to be consistent. The people of Cartagena chose me not for being a politician, but for being an anti-corruption activist. Above all there is transparency and probity, honesty and I cannot allow that if Cynthia got a certificate that this university says is false, that is why she cannot continue in the administration, “said Dau.
The second scandal had arrived in the middle of this year when the citizen overseer, Wilmer Sánchez, presented evidence that revealed that one of the labor certifications presented by the former first lady was also false.

The District Comptroller’s Office, headed by the lawyer Fredy Quintero, opened a process of fiscal responsibility against the general secretary of the District, Diana Martínez Berrocal, which culminated in the resignation of the official.
Also, the District’s director of human talent, Marta Carvajal, was investigated because according to the control bodies she would have violated the principle of morality.
Despite the departure of the official, the controversy leaves scars in the District and the control bodies announce more investigations.
