The explanation was given by Felipe Ramírez to the media, at the delivery of said buses this week, and several days after the controversy that arose because the Claudia López administration would not only want to paint the buses yellow, but green.

In the midst of the controversy, councilors opposed the idea of changing the color of the vehicles, as they considered that this represented a millionaire cost for the city, but in the end the administration defended itself and this Thursday they presented the first 48 buses of the zonal system which are painted the same color as the Taxis.

Why are there yellow SITP buses in Bogotá?

The manager of Transmilenio clarified that the 48 new buses, of the 66 that they expect to complete in the coming days, are yellow so that users can distinguish them from those that are not environmentally friendly.

“The buses are yellow and they will allow them to have a special badge. Precisely in the sense of the new fleet, with clean technologies, which will guarantee that users not only enjoy a better service, but also cleaner air, ”said Ramírez.

“We are talking about Euro VI buses, which reduce by about 95% the particulate material that was generated with the previous buses in the system. […] New buses, with clean technologies, that help us improve the environment ”, he added.

In his statements, the official also explained that those vehicles that became part of the Integrated Transportation System will especially benefit the inhabitants of the Perdomo sector, in the south of Bogotá.
