The vaccination plan against covid-19 presented by the Government for 2021 does not contemplate the supply of the biological in children under 16 years of age, pregnant women and people who have overcome the disease. These determinations have raised concerns.
This Monday, precisely, during the ‘Prevention and action’ program, the Deputy Minister of Health, Luis Alexander Moscoso, explained the reasons for the exclusion of these population groups.
Those under 16 will not receive the vaccine because their risk of mortality – from contracting the disease – is low, he said.

In addition, he pointed out that “the scientific evidence on the application of the vaccine is not known, so it is a risk in that segment of the population, so we prefer to wait for more evidence in this regard.”
For this reason, precisely, women will not be given the vaccine against covid-19 either.
“We have no evidence of the effects on pregnant women. We must make other protections for pregnant women,” argued Moscoso.
On the other hand, he asserted that citizens who were infected and overcame the disease will not be vaccinated because they acquired “immunity” for a few months.

“It is a risk criterion. The other groups do not have it -immunity-. As a prioritization phase must be determined, they do not appear and do not appear in these initial phases,” he said.
Vaccination against covid-19 in Colombia will begin in February, according to President Iván Duque.
The country acquired 40 million doses – with Pfizer, AstraZeneca and the Covax mechanism – to immunize 20 million people.
In the first phase of the vaccination plan, citizens over 80 years of age and health sector personnel will receive the biological.
