WhatsApp and Instagram: worldwide fall of Facebook applications – Apps – Technology

Since noon this Friday and for more than an hour there were problems in the operation of the instant messaging application WhatsApp and in the social network Instagram, both are part of the conglomerate of Facebook.

The specialized platform Downdetector pointed out that in WhatsApp More than 11,000 people reported problems connecting and sending and receiving messages during that period of time.

In the case of Instagram, there were difficulties in updating the feed of the application, so that none of the publications could be seen.

Until now, neither platform has reported the reasons for the crash. The problems were registered in several countries of the world.

WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging app in the world and during the pandemic the number of downloads increased considerably, as it has become one of the main communication channels between people. Currently, the platform it has more than 2 billion active users globally.

On the other hand, the social network Instagram has 1,221 million active users in the world, who spend an average of 10.3 hours per month within the application.
