After learning the story of a street dweller in Marinilla, Antioquia, who was found among her belongings about 3 million pesosMany citizens expressed their dissatisfaction, since the money had been in the custody of the Personería.
The 54-year-old woman had collected this sum, apparently as a result of begging.
Many consulted the municipal administration on the outcome of this story, so the mayor’s office spoke.
“We appreciate the concern expressed by the fact. The lady received all the attention from the Family Secretariat, with due respect for her rights. The Municipal Attorney at all times was the guarantor and the money, as well as all the belongings found at the time, were in their custody, while the family was contacted for their care. After the link with his relatives, his belongings were returned in their entirety”, Assured the Mayor of Marinilla.
Thus, the money along with other belongings returned to the woman’s hands.
However, the authorities reiterated the call to citizens not to give money on the streets and direct their aid to foundations or entities established for that purpose.
