So far the only thing clear is that the first to publicize the situation was the journalist Ariel Ávila, who on his Twitter account said that Semana Magazine had made the decision to cancel its program ‘El Poder’.
“By decisions @RevistaSemana, my program ‘El Poder’ was canceled, as well as my participation in the channel”the political scientist trilled, and left a message of appreciation for the company and his co-workers. In addition, he described his activity: “We did critical and investigative journalism.”
Minutes after this trill, Week was pronounced in this regard and argued that it was “At the request of Ariel Ávila” that the program ‘El Poder’, “which ran until October 31, will not be broadcast from” this Monday. “Thanks to Ariel and his team for the excellent work,” added that medium.
Ávila responded to this message with another trill in which he assures that precisely on the morning of this Monday he was notified that his program would be canceled, and that “they gave him a deadline until October 31”.
“After the announcement of the cancellation I did not find sense to continue in something canceled. Indeed, the program was ready, it was about La Minga ”, he said.

Ávila’s departure was analyzed in ‘La Luciérnaga’, on Caracol Radio, where journalist Alejandra Villamizar stated that this Semana decision would be motivated “by the measurements” of the audiences.
“The click that does not forgive, and a program called ‘El Debate’ would also be canceled”added Villamizar, and said that “it is not known if it is a moment of crisis within the new bets, or a decision like the one in recent weeks,” referring to the changes that media made among its managers.
But the journalist Pascual Gaviria launched another hypothesis, in the same radio space, about the anticipation of the departure of the Avila program: “It is clear that this program of ‘El Poder’, in Semana, had an editorial line very different from the one that manages the magazine at the moment. And I also think that the decision is made a bit there ”.
