This was said by the mayor of Medellín in the face of the possibility of joining the isolation recently extended and modified in its schedule by the Government of Antioquia.

The Antioquia Government approved this Monday the extension of the curfew in 124 municipalities of the department until February 2. This time, the restriction will start every day from midnight and will end at 5:00 in the morning.

However, for now Medellín is not part of the municipalities included in the measure to contain the spread of covid-19 and the occupation of ICU beds. Given this, Aníbal Gaviria, governor of Antioquia, said he was waiting for the pronouncement of the mayor of Medellin, Daniel Quintero, “hopefully in the same direction.”

This Tuesday, Quintero said in a radio interview that “eIn the case of Medellín, we do not want to put unnecessary curfewsThat’s why our ideal day to take action is Wednesday, because it is the middle of the week. With Wednesday’s variables we can have a better vision in relation to what is going to happen ”.

According to the official, will be evaluated tomorrow if new restrictions are approved, although he said that “for now, with the trend we have, no other measure is necessary. The trend that tells us is that it would not be necessary to take a measure of this type ”.

However, he added, “it is possible that tomorrow some figure will tell us that the epidemiological projections are not working and then we embrace a night curfew measure”.

In the rest of Antioquia

In addition to the strict confinement every day between midnight and 5:00 in the morning, the peak and ID is maintained “for entering commercial establishments, with the exception of restaurants and hotels and / or similar.”

People with an identification document number ending in an even number, as provided by the Government, may enter the commercial establishments on even days. The same for those whose document ends in an odd number, whose entry days will be the odd dates.

In accordance with the Decree, the inhabitants of the municipalities of the department of Antioquia who have to move due to their work activities or for emergency reasons will be exempt from the measure. “To verify the exception, summary evidence must be presented indicating the work activity to be carried out or the emergency situation to attend to.”
