The feared criminal, who is attributed with the management of micro-trafficking groups and hitmen in Bucaramanga, was arrested in the last hours in an operation carried out in Envigado, Antioquia.
The Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga, Mebuc, reported that after an investigative work carried out by officials assigned to the criminal investigation section, Sijín, and in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, the criminal structure dedicated to drug trafficking known as ‘The Colossi’
In the event, their leader, known as ´Pichi ‘, was captured on a farm located in an exclusive sector on the outskirts of Medellín. A group of special commandos led by the Mebuc commander, Brigadier General Luis Ernesto García, arrived there by land and air.
After the arrest of ‘Pichi’, 21 raids were carried out that allowed the dismantling of the entire structure made up of 23 people, six of them from the hitman component and 17 managers of retail areas.
According to the investigation, it was established that this criminal group was linked to at least eight homicides committed in the metropolitan area related to the territorial dispute of micro-trafficking.
The leader and part of this structure must answer for the crimes of aggravated homicide, torture, forced disappearance, conspiracy to commit a crime for the purpose of homicide, manufacturing, drug trafficking and firearms.
The attorney general of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, explained that the operation yielded a forceful result against micro-trafficking. “We ended the year by beating the organization ‘Los Colosos’. We captured the leader alias ‘Pichi’ after a year of investigation.”
According to Barbosa, the criminal organization made 14 billion dollars a year and affected the Center and North of Bucaramanga, in more than 30 neighborhoods, with the scourge of micro-trafficking.
‘Pichi’ was under a home insurance measure, from which he escaped. “He was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and now we are going to charge him with murder and forced disappearance. This bandit is going to be behind bars for a long time,” Barbosa sentenced.
The Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that so far this year 325 tons of drugs have been seized and more than 370 laboratories built in different regions of the country have been destroyed.
“There is a concern that micro-trafficking is multiplying drug trafficking in Colombia, there are very important networks that are affecting the cities. Bucaramanga and Santander end up receiving this relief for all parents,” the official stressed.
