Video: Itagüí Councilor verbally assaulted a citizen in the street

A case of intolerance and verbal aggression in Antioquia involved the Itagüí councilor Juan Fernando Zapata, who starred in a scene of aggression against a woman who apparently had previously met.

The recording of the scandal was published on Twitter by 45 Seconds Colombia. The video shows the politician, who was with a child in the back of a white truck, while a young woman, standing on the street platform, sees the car go by and exclaims: “Bye, my love” .

Immediately the driver of the truck, without saying a word, replies ‘bitch’, the truck stops in the middle of the road and the Antioquia politician gets out of the vehicle.

Here is the moment in which the councilor begins to point out the woman while citizens surround him so that he does not attack the woman:

Several witnesses managed to intercede to prevent Zapata from beating the woman while he launched a series of expletives after getting off the back of the vehicle. The councilor, in an apparent state of excitement, is intercepted and returns to the truck while the boy screams when he sees what was happening.

At that moment, another woman present at the scene shouts: “The child, the child. Think of the child! ”, Rejecting the politician’s behavior.

Juan Fernando Zapata appears as the first vice president of the Itagüí Council, and is a member of the political party Movimiento Alternativo Indígena y Social (Mais). His aggressiveness prompted a statement by the local mayor, José Fernando Escobar, who described the act as deplorable.

In addition, the Mayor’s Office of Itagüí published a message via Twitter in which it warned that “no type of physical manifestation of violence is normal and no environment is private if violence against women occurs in it.”

According to information published by CM & News, local authorities analyze the images to establish if the councilor’s behavior warrants some kind of sanction.
