During the pandemic, many low-income students have received aid from the mayors of their cities, to ensure that they grow up with the necessary conditions and rights. Especially in Santa Marta, the School Feeding Program (PAE) has been delivering food to children at home for several days so that they can fulfill their responsibilities.
But nevertheless, some parents have denounced that several of the deliveries have been food in bad condition. One of the deliveries was recorded by a woman who assured that the tuna they sent to her children was full of worms. She decided to record the situation and post it on social networks
After the recording went viral, the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, through a statement, said that it made an inspection in the El Pando neighborhood, from where the complaint was made according to the local administration.
“The coordination of the School Feeding Program -PAE- in the District of Santa Marta informs the public that in relation to the known complaints about the alleged poor condition of tuna rations that were distributed to beneficiaries of the IED El Pando, conducted an inspection brigade of the products that were delivered to the students of this institution ”, they published through the website of the Mayor’s Office.
The officials asked the families benefiting from the PAE to open the tuna cans that were given to them and, says the mayor’s office, all were in perfect condition. In addition, they confirmed that they were able to identify the people who made the complaints against the food program and found several inconsistencies in their testimonies, the reason why the Mayor of Santa Marta says that it is all about sabotage against the program.
“From the coordination of the PAE, legal actions will be taken against those people who, through the dissemination of false information, try to generate anxiety and mistrust among the citizens, against the development of this program,” the Mayor of Santa Marta warned in the same statement.
