The heavy rains of the last hours made the tributaries of lhe Atrato and Andagueda rivers will present a sudden increase which left flooding raves in several municipalities of the department.
The situation is dramatic so much so that from social networks they ask for help for the communities that were left with their homes underwater. “My Chocó hurts. Sudden rising of the Atrato River flooded the municipalities of Lloró, Bagadó, Istmina, Andagoya and others ”, wrote the leader Luis Ernesto Olave.
Likewise, the Afro leader added that Chocó was cut off, since the Atrato River grew and took the Medellín-Quibdó highway; “It flooded several municipalities Lloró and Bagadó. Other rivers such as the San Juan and tributaries flooded Itsmina, Andagoya and Condoto. More impacts are expected. We are carried away ”commented the human rights defender.

For his part, the Chocoano senator Juan Luis Castro published a video that shows how the Andagueda River is carried forward to the bridge that communicates the municipality of Lloró with the rest of the department and apparently several people fell into the water and are missing.

Government of Chocó activates protocols to attend to the emergency
In the afternoon of this Saturday the Government of Chocó, headed by the governor, Ariel Palacios Calderón, activated the protocols to serve the 10 municipalities of the department that have been affected by sudden floods and landslides.
“Through the coordination of departmental risk management, we informed the National Government about the difficult situation of our communities at this time”Palacios said.
Cartagena also under water
This Saturday, the lota storm affects hundreds of Cartagena, whose water is already up to their waist. The Situation Room of the Office of Attention and Risk Management reported that areas such as Villa Rosa, Olaya Herrera (Zarabanda), Pasacaballos (Mother Herlinda), the Olaya neighborhood and its Central sectors, Colombia, Concepción, Miramar, Tequendama and Socorro streets, as well as in Bayunca (Reino de Pambelé sector), Policarpa and Bernardo Jaramillo present emergencies due to flooding.

The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) reported, this Wednesday, November 11, that the tropical wave that approaches the country from the eastern Caribbean Sea has an 80% probability of reaching the category of tropical cyclone and could affect the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.
In the same way, Ideam reported that in light of the heavy rains caused by the Lota storm, they are accompanied by electrical activity in sectors of the Sucre, Bolívar, Atlántico, Magdalena and La Guajira coastlines. In addition, the Institute also warned that this storm has a high probability of becoming a major hurricane.

Mayor William Dau reported in the morning that “70% of the city is flooded and all the attention agencies are attentive ”. I affirm that a calamity will be reported for the rains in the city and they are waiting for help from private companies to get equipment to help deal with the emergency.

Rubén Torres, a user of the social network Twitter, showed through a video what some parking lots in a residential area in the city look like:
They recommend to Cartagena to stay in safe places, do not risk in open areas, trees or metal areas, as they could be areas of electric shocks. As well as always having your identity document at hand and not entering the water currents “no matter how peaceful they may seem”.
According to the Ideam report, Iota would formally reach the hurricane category between the morning and afternoon of Sunday, November 15, and according to the institution, the alert for tropical storm season would be maintained throughout the remainder of November.
