Red Bull has been weighing up the continuity of Alex albon, while Vettel and Hulkenberg were linked with the team of Milton keynes.
Talking after sign Sergio Pérez as a partner of Max verstappen by 2021, the Red Bull team boss, Christian horner, He clarified that the Mexican was the only pilot that they really valued.

Horner said it was lucky for Red Bull that a driver of Perez’s level was free while they looked at options.

Although Red Bull has a young driver program, Horner explained that the team had to choose what was best for them as they felt that none of their juniors are yet ready for a shot at F1.
“There was no suitable candidate on the show,” Horner said. “So we decided to look outside of the show for the first time since 2007.”
“It was impossible to ignore Sergio’s performances this year. I think he has completed a great season. He has been really impressive, especially in the second half of the championship, and he has earned the position.”
“We want to put together the strongest team we can to fight with Mercedes, and you have to do it with both cars. I think Sergio has the necessary experience, he brings great knowledge to the team as well, and I think he will be a good teammate for Max next year. ”
