Vehicle had been stolen from former Undersecretary Jimmy Dranguet

Former Cali Mayor’s Office official, Jimmy Dranguet, stated that the vehicle used as a car bomb in the attack that occurred this Friday in Corinto, Cauca, belonged to his family and was stolen last year.

Through social networks, Dranguet, who served as Undersecretary of Inspection, Control and Surveillance of the Ministry of Security and Justice, disclosed that the car was stolen from his wife on September 24, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Ciudad Córdoba neighborhood, eastern Cali.

When the theft was committed, Dranguet reported the case to the authorities and that is why he learned that his family’s vehicle had been used to commit the attack that left 43 injured in the neighboring department.

The car was a KIA Sportage with EHT 310 plates, and it was detonated near the Corinto Mayor’s Office on Friday afternoon, in a fact that has been attributed to the FARC dissidents that operate in that municipality.

As a result of the incident, Dranguet invited the people who are victims of theft, who report to the competent authorities, since these cars could be used for illegal activities, as happened to his family’s vehicle.

The President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, spoke on Saturday about the terrorist attack that occurred in the last hours in the municipality of Corinto, Cauca, and stated that those responsible will be persecuted until they fall.

“These cowardly acts against the community are unforgivable. These bandits either submit, or we confront them forcefully and they will be brought to justice, or they will fall into military operations, here we will no longer tolerate these types of events, “said the president, during a visit to the scene of the attack. terrorist with a car bomb.

From Cauca, the President assured that behind this attack are the dissidents of the Farc, from the Dagoberto Ramos front, who, according to the president, are being confronted and will continue to be confronted wherever they are.

“We say it clearly, we are going to destroy that Dagoberto Ramos completely, Jaime Martínez and all those cells of dissidents and that second Narcotalia, because this country is not going to allow itself to be humiliated by terrorism,” said the president.

Duque described the events that occurred in Cauca as an expression of the coward, which only seek to generate anxiety and affect a community that has already been hit by violence in the country.
