A small bus with capacity for 10 people was transporting a group of tourists along the road that leads from San Gil to Bucaramanga. Around 5:00 pm, the travelers decided to stop in one of the beautiful landscapes of the Chicamocha Canyon to take a picture.
However, the driver of the vehicle with license plates SOI 445 would have got out of the car without securing it with the handbrake. As they were about to take the photo, the minibus began to roll backwards out of control.
No one could prevent him from rolling down an abyss almost 750 meters. Fortunately, in her frantic rush to the cliff she left no victims. However, on the way to the bottom of the ravine he threw all the belongings of those who traveled in it.
“The incident was reported to us around 5:00 pm on Sunday. We went to a place known as La Mina, jurisdiction of Cepitá. Upon arrival we met the tourists and went down to the vehicle in order to secure the area so that a fire did not break out. In addition, some elements of the passengers were recovered ”, indicated Benjamín Muñoz, Commander of the Aratoca Fire Department.
However, the vehicle could not be rescued due to terrain conditions. The car was declared in total loss and now it will be necessary to evaluate the form to remove it from the bottom of the abyss.
Less than a week ago, on September 22, another tourist also fell into an abyss when he was trying to take a selfie in the sector known as El Salto del Duende in Piedecuesta. He was lost for four days until he was rescued by Los Santos firefighters.
