The Ministry of Health reported 8,498 new infections for covid-19 in the country this Friday, in addition to 299 more deaths due to the disease -268 of them occurred in previous days. In Valle del Cauca, 487 new cases and 20 deaths were registered, 11 of them in Cali.
In this way, Colombia reached the number of 590,520 cases of covid-19 since the arrival of the pandemic in the country. The deaths from the new coronavirus are, so far, 18,767. There are currently 140,926 active cases in the national territory.
11 of the deaths reported in Valle del Cauca occurred in Cali. The rest occurred in Yumbo, Buga, Palmira -two deaths in each municipality- and Florida, Jamundí and Candelaria, each of which reported one death.
In the capital of the department died: an 85-year-old woman, with comorbidities under study; a 57-year-old man, who was suffering from HIV; a 70-year-old woman with study comorbidities; a 74-year-old man, also with pre-existing diseases under study; a 53-year-old woman, in the same conditions; a 67-year-old woman, who suffered from hypertension and diabetes; a 74-year-old woman, with hypertension and kidney disease, a 90-year-old man, who suffered from hypertension and diabetes.
To these deaths are added those of a 90-year-old man with hypertension and diabetes; a 96-year-old woman, who suffered from hypertension; and a 72-year-old man with hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
The deaths in Yumbo refer to a 73-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man, with comorbidities under study; in Palmira, two men died: one 43 and the other 25, both with comorbidities under study.
In Buga, the deaths of a 71-year-old woman with comorbidities under study and a 68-year-old man with diabetes and COPD were recorded.
In Candelaria, a 53-year-old man died, suffering from cancer; in Florida, a 79-year-old man with hypertension, diabetes, and hypothyroidism; and in Jamundí, a 66-year-old woman, who suffered from obesity.
Since the start of the covid-19 epidemic in the country, the Valley has registered 45,667 cases for the disease, according to INS data. It should be noted that in Colombia 429,620 people have been able to recover from the disease,
