The Supreme Court of the United States on Friday rejected the demand presented by Texas to revoke the result of the presidential elections of last November 3 that gave the victory to Democrat Joe Biden.

In its brief, the high court indicated that “Texas has not shown a legally recognizable interest in the way other states conducted the elections. The rest of the motions are rejected as irrelevant.”
The statement did not reveal details about the deliberations of the nine Supreme Court justices (six conservatives and three progressives), although there was no dissenting opinion.

Separately, Conservative Justices Samuel Alito (nominated by Trump) and Clarence Thomas indicated that the court has no discretion to deny the filing of a complaint brief in a case that falls within its original jurisdiction, with which they would have admitted for processing the complaint.
This week, the attorney general of Texas, Republican Ken Paxton, asked the Supreme Court to prevent Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of them states where Biden won, from endorsing their victory in the Electoral College next Monday, by alleging that their governors used the pandemic as “pretext” to change the electoral rules and allow a greater vote by mail, an option chosen by millions of Americans.

These four states have a total of 62 votes in the Electoral College, so that if the Supreme Court had positioned itself in favor of Paxton, the result of the elections could have changed, since Trump accumulates 232 votes and Biden 306, above the 270 barrier needed to reach the White House.
Trump himself, who has not acknowledged his defeat in the November 3 elections by alleging an alleged electoral fraud without evidence, on Wednesday brought a motion to support the case of Texas before the Supreme Court.
And this Friday he encouraged the High Court on Twitter to adopt a resolution that would benefit it: “If the Supreme Court shows great Wisdom and Courage, the American People will perhaps win the most important case in history, and our Election Process will be respected again!” Trump wrote.

On Tuesday, the High Court already rejected a lawsuit filed by the outgoing president’s allies to reverse Biden’s triumph in Pennsylvania.
