Uribe’s children talk about the restaurant chain their father owned

It was Tomás Uribe who touched on a personal issue about his father when journalist Gustavo Gómez, director of the 6AM Hoy por hoy program on Caracol Radio, asked him about a video that circulated on networks where ex-senator Álvaro Uribe Vélez was seen reunited as a family and with a mare in the dining room.

“People took the video as a show of opulence, even a bit like a blow to the memory of the 1980s of horsemen and drug trafficking,” said Gómez, to which the eldest Uribe Moreno responded.

“Gustavo, my dad is a person who vibrates for horses, and not for reasons of opulence, because one could say that my father grew up in an upper-middle-class home, not in an environment of opulence, and the first years were to school on a mule with his brother, because my grandfather had a coffee farm. So, he carries the horses in his soul ”, commented Tomás Uribe.

After that, the son of the former president recalled that his father “came out on his own” and that he studied at a public university.

“It’s something that few people know but when my dad was a student at the University of Antioquia, he had a chain of restaurants in Medellín, Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andrés, and he says that on December 31 he sold 30,000 arepas. Imagine at that time that there was no email or WhatsApp, and one was coordinating the sale of arepas in five different cities, ”said the interviewee on the station.

From this specific case, Tomás Uribe assured that in his house “there are no luxuries” but “good taste”, because his mother (Lina Moreno) “is a lady who has good taste” without being “standing finger or anything”while her father goes out of his way for horses.

For this reason, the former senator’s son clarified that the mare in the dining room was for his son, Well, “they were going to sing his birthday” and his father “panicked” what the boy asked: to bring the animal to mount and pose in the photo.

In addition to this arepas business, about which little was known, the former president’s children referred to the case that today has their father in house arrest by order of the Supreme Court of Justice, for alleged crimes of bribery of witnesses and procedural fraud.

However, the Court confirmed this Tuesday that the case went to the Prosecutor’s Office and that it will be the prosecuting body that will continue with this investigation.

This is the complete interview of the children of former President Uribe (they talk about the business chain from minute 34 onwards):
