United States Elections: Georgia Vote Counting Confirms Joe Biden’s Victory – United States Elections 2020 – International

The US state of Georgia completed a manual recount of all votes cast there in the presidential election on Nov. 3, and the results confirmed Joe Biden’s victory, a local official announced Thursday.

“The audit confirmed that the original count of the machines accurately represented the winner of the election,” read a statement posted on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s website.

The text also ensures that “due to the narrow margin of the race and the principles of audits that limit risk,” the audit was carried out manually and all votes cast were verified.

“This is a credit to the hard work of our county and the local election officials who moved quickly to undertake and complete such a momentous task in a short amount of time,” Raffensperger said.

The Secretary of State also explained that the difference between the reported results and the complete manual count “is within the expected error rate of the manual count ballots.”

The confirmation makes Biden the first Democratic presidential candidate to win that southern US state in nearly three decades, despite accusations of fraud from his rival, President Donald Trump.
