Workers of the Autonomous University of the Caribbean, linked to the institution’s union, demonstrated at noon this Friday next to the academic center building, for what they consider a persecution from the rector Mauricio Molinares Cañavera.
According to what was exposed by the union, 200 contracts were suspended “without justification”. Of the aforementioned links, 155 were of workers belonging to the trade union organization.
During the protest, dozens of women with bare chests and covered faces raised red flags and issued slogans. In this way, they said that they were laying bare what happens in the academic center.
“We reject the decisions made by the rector. Mothers of families and in general many workers were sent home without justification”, Santiago Reyes, union spokesperson, said with a megaphone in hand.
So far, the Autonomous University of the Caribbean has not issued an official statement to refer to the situation.
