President Donald Trump did not enter the Oval Office on Tuesday after being discharged from the hospital where he was treated for COVID-19, a White House spokesman said, contradicting an adviser to the US president.
Trump’s behavior is being scrutinized with special attention, as a large number of people working in the White House, including journalists, have tested positive for coronavirus.
“The President wanted to be in the Oval Office yesterday (Tuesday), but did not come and work from the residence,” tweeted Ben Williamson, the president’s spokesman.
A few minutes earlier, his economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, had said on CNBC that Trump had “appeared yesterday (Tuesday) in the Oval Office taking the utmost precautions regarding covid-19.”
The White House reported that it is preparing an operation to allow the president to return to his office in the coming days.
Shortly before his departure Monday from Walter Reed Military Hospital, Trump’s doctors stressed that he was “not completely out of the woods yet.”
