The new airline, which expects to begin operating in mid-2021, will have an initial fleet of 8 aircraft and has drawn up a flight plan to operate 29 domestic routes in Colombia and another 15 international.
In accordance with William Shaw, Director and Co-Founder of Ultra Air, the projection is to arrive with prices around 20 percent below those that are presented in the market today, and the arrival of the company would imply the generation of some 36,000 jobs in the entire chain associated with the aeronautical business and a growth of 5 percent in the income of travel agencies and hotels for the next few years.
Although it is aware that the recovery of the sector will only take place from the year 2022, the company executives explained that its main effort is concentrated on making its cost structure an efficient and flexible model, for which, the formula of the low Price starts from the strategies for the purchase of airplanes.
After the hearing in the Civil Aeronautics, the only thing missing is approval for these new low-cost airline to enter the country, to move people, cargo and mail, with destinations that include the main Colombian cities, as well as the connection with Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Curaçao and the United States.

“Ultra Air has put the two great manufacturers in the world aviation to compete to see which one is left with the new bet of Colombian air transport: Airbus A320 or Boeing B737 MAX planes, which would be the ones that will make up the fleet with passenger-friendly technological standards for their information and utility, “he said.
“We believe in Colombia. It is one of the most resilient economies in Latin America; its potential to develop tourism is enormous. Our dream is to contribute to the reactivation, invigorate the industry and connect more and more people, giving them the possibility of traveling at the best prices ”, added Shaw.
And he adds that the country is the third market – after Panama and Peru – in the Americas with the highest growth projection (4 percent) and with a high concentration of passenger demand, due to its privileged geographical location and its undeniable status as world tourist destination.
