Mayor Claudia López came out of the guardianship filed by the Venezuelan lawyer José Francisco Novoa, who considered that she acted against her compatriots by pointing them out as responsible for crime in the city.

“Judge denies guardianship and confirms that my expressions were not discriminatory, much less xenophobia against Venezuelan citizens”, López wrote via Twitter, stating the result of the court decision.

It should be remembered that Novoa demanded that the president withdraw the publication she made on her Twitter account in which she said that there were Venezuelan immigrants “involved in criminality that are making our lives squares.” Likewise, the citizen asked López to issue a public apology to amend his foolish comment on October 29.

However, in the document – published by the Legal Secretariat of the Bogotá Mayor’s Office – it is read that the guarantee judge did not consider that the mayor’s words covered all those born in the neighboring country.

“At no time has unequal treatment been suggested for Venezuelans, neither against Colombian nationals, nor against foreigners from any country. Nor has it been intended to instill hatred or aversion against said citizens, as the actor considers it here “.

Separate line, the document says that López’s statements “did not have any discriminatory or xenophobic spirit” and that he only requested that those who arrive in the country do so in accordance with the law.

“Zero stigmatization, but neither can we fall into the denial of facts that we have to serenely acknowledge and confront with force,” replied the mayor when replicating the ruling.
