Invias operational director, Juan Esteban Romero, pointed out that in order to guarantee the safety of road users, 19,000 cubic meters of material have had to be removed, but other treatment tasks are also required that cause stone and material to fall on the road. existing road “which implies risk for the vehicles and residents of the sidewalks surrounding the sector that circulate along the corridor.”

Romero reported that these works will not be carried out in the La Línea tunnel, but “as this is an area near the tunnel, the closure is carried out from the Americas toll,
because the damming of vehicles inside that structure cannot be allowed. Because the supply of concrete comes from Cajamarca and the material to be evacuated is also deposited in the same direction, a free corridor is required for that material to flow ”.

The drivers of the road must take alternate routes such as Bogotá – Madrid – Facatativa – Villeta – Guaduas – Honda – Mariquita – Manizales – Pereira – Cartago – La Paila or divert in Manizales towards Armenia – La Paila and continue their journey.
