A tropical wave is coming with a high possibility of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, which will favor rainy conditions in the country and especially in La Guajira, IDEAM reported.
The information was confirmed by the director of Prevention and Disasters of the department of La Guajira, William Iguarán González.
“The tropical wave that was forecast with abundant rains for this weekend has tended to strengthen and currently, it is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation with a high possibility of reaching the category of tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
The system was located at 01:00 HLC in longitude 74W, south of 20N with convective development in progress, maintaining its movement towards the West-Northwest between 9 – 13 knots (17 – 24 km / h). In the national territory, it is recommended to continue to be very attentive to the development of the meteorological conditions in the Colombian Caribbean Sea, including the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, as well as in sectors of the Caribbean, Andean, Orinoquia and central and northern regions. de la Pacifica ”, said IDEAM.
IDEAM also revealed that “we also recommend paying special attention to areas of high slope located in La Guajira, Norte de Cesar and Magdalena, Bolívar, Atlántico, Córdoba, Sucre, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, western Arauca , Casanare and Meta, Chocó, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío and Valle del Cauca, given the probability of sudden floods or landslides.
