A similar meteorite fell on February 1, 2019 and shook several municipalities in the province of Pinar del Río, in the west of the country, without causing human loss or material damage.

On that occasion, the authorities said that it was a stone-type meteorite, which has an alloy of iron and nickel, as well as a large amount of magnesium silicate.
