Before the end of Sunday, a new earthquake was registered in Colombia. The Colombian Geological Survey confirmed that at 11:37 pm it originated a 5.3 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in the municipality of Puerto Gaitán (Meta).
The tremor originated less than 30 kilometers deep, which made thousands of Colombians in that department and others in the east and center of the country feel it intensely.
The striking thing is that this is another of the many telluric movements that have occurred in Meta this week. All the seismic activity that this region has had in recent days is surprising. Last Thursday several earthquakes were registered there, one of them of magnitude 4.5. This Saturday the earth shook again in that department and it was confirmed that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1.
But that was not all since on the morning of this Sunday, the Geological Survey reported another earthquake, but of magnitude 4.3.
This is the strongest tremor that has been confirmed in Colombia this year. On a couple of occasions, they had been notified earthquakes of magnitude 5.1, both in this month of March, but this new one in Puerto Gaitán surpassed them.
Some Colombians manifested on social networks that they perfectly felt the earthquake this Sunday before midnight. This was the report from the Geological Survey:
