The authorities broke up a human trafficking ring that tricked women into sending them to China for sexual exploitation. Seven people were captured.

The operations were coordinated from Cali by alias Barbie, outlined by the Prosecutor’s Office as the head of said structure.

The Prosecutor’s Office assures that alias Barbie arrived in Colombia at the end of 2019 to spend the end of the year festivities with her family and had planned to return to China, but had to stay in the country due to the closure of international borders due to the covid pandemic. 19.

Alias ​​Barbie was captured in the capital of Valle del Cauca, and five other alleged members of the network were arrested in the departments of Cundinamarca, Santander and Quindío.

A woman who was outside the country was also captured with the cooperation of the Spanish authorities, through Interpol’s blue circular.

The investigations indicate that at least 30 young people from Antioquia and Santander were victims of the gang. Migrant women who were in the country were also affected.

However, so far, the authorities have only reported two formal complaints.

Those captured were charged with the alleged crimes of conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes and human trafficking.

The network offered women modeling jobs abroad and, once in China, they were forced to engage in sexual activities.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, “a group was in charge of contacting young people on social networks, via WhatsApp and, in some cases, through a brothel based in Bucaramanga. Apparently, they did photographic studies and convinced them to accept proposals to model garments to dress in China, in exchange for millionaire dividends. “

The network processed the documentation of the women to facilitate their departure from the country and trained them to respond to the immigration filters of the authorities at the airports.

The investigation shows that the victims first traveled from Bogotá to Madrid, Spain. Later, they were transferred to Amsterdam, Holland, and, from there, to Beijing, China.

After arriving in the Asian giant, they were taken to a night establishment. “In this place, the young women were allegedly detained, their passports and personal documents were taken from them, and they imposed a debt of 14 thousand dollars, which they had to meet by paying 600 dollars a day in sexual services,” explains the Prosecutor’s Office.

On the other hand, assets valued at $ 1500 million, which belong to the alleged members of the network of trafficking in women, were seized.

The authorities ordered the extinction of domain for properties located in Bogotá, Bucaramanga and Quindío, including two high-end vehicles, three properties, and a commercial establishment (the dating house in the capital of Santander).
