The death of a tourist by immersion last weekend on the beaches of the Tayrona Park, unleashed a wave of criticism and complaints from relatives and visitors who believe that the tragedy could be avoided.

Cesar Augusto Bolaño García, 33, a native of Bogotá, was enjoying a swim in the sea in Cabo San Juan, when he suffered a leg cramp and there were no rescue and first aid personnel to save him.

In cellphone videos of several witnesses, the dramatic moments in which his companions and other bathers struggled to get him out of the water and assist him are seen, but due to the lack of elements and knowledge, the fatal outcome of César Bolaño was inevitable.

What happened caused sadness and indignation in the family of the Bogota citizen, who denounced the lack of emergency logistics by the administration of the Tayrona Park to attend to this type of event.

Yulibeth Cruz, a close friend of the deceased tourist, criticized that in the designated beach areas there is no presence of rescue personnel, first aid workers, doctors and much less rescue teams.

“It is not justified that in this place where one pays to enter and for risk insurance, guarantees, accompaniment and security are not provided to visitors”, express.

About the moments of anguish that they lived, he said that the Bogota native was taken out of the sea by other people who were on the beach, because the lifeguard never appeared.

“The tragedy could be worse because another tourist who was trying to help was also drowning; Fortunately, they took that person out on time, but for César it was too late because being in the sand, a suitable professional from the Park did not come to assist him “, he recounted.

Another bather published a video on social networks where he ratified this version by informing that it was the same tourists present in the place, who tied their personal belongings to help the man.

“I can testify that there was no one. People had to join towels and shirts to make a rescue rope towards him. After 20 minutes a nurse arrived who did not have the necessary equipment to save him “, reported in the video.

In the recordings that were made, the man from Bogotá is seen in the sand surrounded by dozens of tourists who were waiting for the arrival of a lifeguard. The minutes passed and finally the man died on the seashore.

The tourists demanded that the Tayrona administration improve the assistance protocols in case of emergencies, so that there are no more deaths from drowning.
