After the two longest stages, the 75th edition of the Vuelta a Espaa faces the antepenultimate with a reduced mileage in which the inclusion of the port of El Robledo, 30 kilometers from the finish line, makes it a day in which the best in the general classification must be attentive without allowing themselves any oversights.
The sixteenth stage will take the peloton from Salamanca to Ciudad Rodrigo, with 162 kilometers of route and two almost chained and long passes, although without extreme harshness.
On this occasion the finish line appears suitable for victory to be elucidated in the sprint.
As in the day of this Thursday, the cold, the wind and the rain could play an important role in the day prior to the decisive stage on Saturday ending in La Covatilla.
Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) defend the lead with 39 and 47 seconds ahead of Richard Carapaz (Ineos) and Hugh Carthy (Education First). Daniel Martin (Israel Start-Up Nation) is fourth to 1 minute 42 seconds. [Clasificaciones completas]
The squad will leave Salamanca on time at 1:00 p.m. (CET) and its arrival in Ciudad Rodrigo is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
