Tomás Uribe’s refusal was made known by the Blu Radio journalist Néstor Morales, who assured that he spoke with Uribe Vélez’s eldest son, after it was said that congressmen from the Democratic Center were going to ask him to be their candidate for the elections of 2022.

“Tomás replies: ‘No, and there is no possibility. Not my family, not my wife, not my mom, not my dad – as he says. Nobody in the family sees me as a presidential candidate, nor does they want me to be a presidential candidate, ‘”Morales said about his conversation with Uribe Moreno.

The idea that Álvaro Uribe’s eldest son was president arose when the former president was arrested at his home, due to the case of false witnesses, which is now in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office.

At that time, Uribe Moreno joined the Democratic Center to work on a committee to define the direction the party would take in the next elections.

However, some Uribistas like Paloma Valencia said that the son of their leader could lead the party and even enlist to be a congressman or president of the Republic, like his father.

But Uribe Moreno, a successful businessman, also ruled out that possibility at the time.
