The sectional director of the Prosecutor’s Office in Medellín, Natalia Rendón, confirmed that based on the evidence presented, a judge was able to send three officials from the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute to jail (Inpec) who were being investigated for drug trafficking.

“According to the investigation carried out by a prosecutor from the Support Structure, public servants have allied with several inmates of the El Pedregal prison in Medellín to enter marijuana and cocaine, which were sold in that prison“, assured Rendón.

The Medellín prosecutor pointed out that the Technical Investigation Body (CTI) established that in “Only 10 days in June 2020, 37 kilos of marijuana and 1.7 kilos of cocaine would have managed to enter the aforementioned prison. “

In fact, the investigators determined that the narcotics were launched in the early morning hours from outside the prison, to be later collected and stored by security and surveillance personnel, who apparently marketed them among the prisoners.

“It was also evidenced that on some occasions the criminal network He would have threatened some auxiliary high school graduates from Inpec so that they collaborate with their illicit activities, “said the Prosecutor.

Those implicated were identified as the inspector Jhon Carlos Ruiz Parra and the dragons Víctor Orlando Román Reyes and Dany Yamid Cano Ibarra, who were charged with drug trafficking, aggravated crime constraint and ideological falsehood in public document.

Ruiz Parra, Román Reyes and Cano Ibarra will be held in a prison in Ibagué (Tolima) while the investigation progresses.

In the same decision, the 30th Municipal Criminal Court of Medellín imposed a non-custodial measure on the assistant bachelor Sergio Cadavid Muñoz.

The defense appealed the first instance decision before the Circuit Criminal Judges.

The accusing body recalled that in November 2019 the Support Structure achieved the prosecution of another 14 people, one of them linked to Inpec, for forming another network dedicated to drug trafficking in the La Paz, Bellavista and Pedregal prisons.
