Colonel Jorge Cabra, commander of the Antioquia Police, said that at 2:00 in the morning of this Sunday, a hitman commando sailed by boat through the waters of the Nechí River, until they reached the urban head of the Cuturú district.

The criminals wore uniforms for the exclusive use of the Army and without a word fired at the inhabitants who were walking the streets at that time. “So far we have found two bodies in the main park and one more on the banks of the river. Of the injured, there are two injured with a firearm and three with blunt objects, ”the officer said.

In addition, there is a missing citizen, who was initially identified as Duván Flórez; the deceased were named Danilo Rojas, Julio César Díaz and Diego Acosta.

At this time, the authorities continue to review the area to see if there are more victims.

In Cuturú, located approximately one hour and 20 minutes from downtown Caucasia, there is no permanent presence of the Public Force, which leaves the community at the mercy of criminal groups such as the Gulf clan, “Los Caparros” and the Eln.

Intelligence sources said that one of the hypotheses is that this attack by Cuturú would have been, presumably, a revenge of the Gulf clan for the death of four of its members in the neighboring municipality of El Bagre.

That event occurred on the morning of Friday, December 11, in the Manga del Medio village, in the Puerto Claver district. According to the initial investigation, 15 days earlier, several members of the Gulf clan arrived in the area, setting up a temporary ranch on a farm, where they apparently were engaged in polygon practice with their weapons.

His presence did not go unnoticed by his enemies from “los Caparros”. A squad of this group, commanded by alias “Chicharrón”, intimidated the locals into informing them of the location of the ranch.

At the site, the four men were massacred with rifle shots. Their bodies rest in a morgue in Montería, where only one has been identified: Johan Danilo Velásquez Arango, alias “Kevin” or “Corneta”.

The violent dispute between “the Caparros” and the Gulf clan began in 2017, after several internal betrayals led to the failure of a society that they had maintained for five years. Now they are fighting for territorial control of Bajo Cauca and the south of Córdoba, for drug trafficking, illegal gold mining, extortion, money laundering and other clandestine businesses.
