According to the Fecode director, the intimidating messages were directed at the entire executive committee of the federation and also at Diógenes Orjuela, president of the Unitary Confederation of Workers (CUT).
Trade unionists expressed concern because they say that These “new threats” come “in the midst of the greatest attack against social leaders”, and that is why they asked the Government to attend to them.
They hope that President Iván Duque and the Minister of Education, María Victoria Angulo, will attend a meeting to discuss the threats and offer security guarantees.
In the image that Alarcón shared there is a funeral wreath and several black Syrians. In addition, liturgical books with the name of each threatened unionist:
New threats arrive at the executive committee of @fecode and president of @cut, in the midst of the biggest attack against social leaders. We request an emergency meeting with @IvanDuque Y @VictoriaBxE to address the issue of guarantees for the exercise of trade unionism. pic.twitter.com/GbIFmauNgj

In a statement, the CUT explained that said package arrived at the home of Carlos Enrique Rivas, one of Fecode’s executives. In the text, they invited “the national and world trade union movement, the movement of human rights defenders, the social movement, to denounce these events and solidarity.”
Indeed, the reactions were not long in coming and, for example, the International Trade Union Confederation (CSI), wrote a letter to President Iván Duque on behalf of “200 million workers in 163 countries and territories” to reject the fact.
He even reminded the head of state that on January 6 they had already denounced “similar threats” to Orjuela and other CUT leaders, and added:
“We urge you once again that the Government take all measures to restore full respect for freedom of association in the country and we demand that it guarantee the physical integrity and safety of the union leaders.”
The Secretary of Education of Bogotá also replied to them on Twitter who reject the facts and express their solidarity. In addition, they urged “the authorities to investigate the facts and, above all, activate the necessary protection routes that guarantee their integrity.”
These were other messages of solidarity they received:

At the moment, neither the Presidency nor the Ministry of Education have referred to the threats or to the meeting proposed by the union leaders.
