The authorities estimate that about 10 million vehicles will be mobilized during the week of school recess in Colombia, which begins this Friday. For this reason, the Ministry of Transport and the Traffic Police launched a gigantic operation on the country’s roads.
For these days, 35,000 soldiers will be deployed who will be in charge of guarding the main road corridors.

“They will be deployed throughout the national territory promoting self-care and care. It is very important for us to understand that this is an opportunity to reactivate the economy ”, stated the Minister of Transportation Angela María Orozco.
Not only land, in the last hours there is a report that indicates that 3,000 international flights are operating, and in Colombia 112 domestic operations are being carried out.
“We have 42 airports operating nationwide and eight airports operating with international flights”, detailed the head of the Transportation portfolio.
The Police will be attentive to the compliance of the rules and that the drivers have all the documents up to date.
“We will be specifically giving control in the transport terminals with the Superintendence of Transport, to verify the pillar, perhaps the most important of our National Government, which has to do with legality,” said General Carlos Rodríguez, director of the National Police traffic.
Alcohol sensors, speed radars, cranes and rescue groups are part of the operation that begins this Friday.

Cartagena
The tourist offer was expanded with the reopening of beaches and historical sites of interest. In addition, there will be 2,000 police officers who will guarantee the safety of citizens and national and foreign tourists.

“We are going to have preventive plans, through our protection section, our Childhood and Adolescence Police, environmental and of course the Tourism Police, they will be attentive and located in the tourist sites of Cartagena to meet all requirements and doubts our visitors may have, ”said Colonel Juan Valderrama, deputy commander of the Cartagena Police.
Antioquia
600 members of the Traffic Police in Antioquia will monitor the main roads of the department from this Friday, anticipating the departure of thousands of travelers this week of recess.
There are already checkpoints installed in the different exits of Medellín, with the presence of the Directorate of Traffic and Transportation of the Antioquia Police.
“It is important that before leaving you verify that the documentation is really up to date. The compulsory insurance, the technomechanical review and there if you check the vehicle to verify if it has the ideal conditions to start a walk ”, recommended Lieutenant Colonel José Archila of the Police.
Cauca’s Valley
The authorities will also control the routes of travelers. In Cali a unified command post was installed that will be active until October 12.
There are at least 500 men from the Traffic Police who will be at different points on the Valle del Cauca road, with special emphasis on the center of the department and the Buenaventura road to carry out controls.
“First to verify compliance with all biosecurity protocols by vehicles, whether they are private or public service. Likewise, we will be carrying out road prevention activities and guaranteeing the safety of all road users ”, added Colonel Hernán Carvajal, commander of the Valle del Cauca Police.
