The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, José Manuel Restrepo, announced at the end of the Day without VAT this Saturday, November 21 that the sales of $ 5 billion pesos expected by the National Government for this third day were exceeded in the country.
“The $ 5 billion was the goal that we set ourselves as a Government, but we can say that it was exceeded, which means that the reactivation process is taking place in the country, and that the organization of these purchases in a responsible and safe way has been been doing in days like today “, said Minister Restrepo in statements collected by La República.
In turn, he pointed out that virtual purchases they were multiplied by two and in some cases by three in the establishments that arranged their pages to carry out this day and that in coordination with the National Police, an accompaniment was made to the places where agglomerations were foreseen so that it could be carried out in the best way.
For its part, the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce reported that during this day it held 281 inspection visits to social networks, applications and web pages of 65 commercial establishments with the intention of monitoring the third edition of the Day without VAT in the country.
According to the entity in charge of protecting consumers, most of the web pages of the establishments worked correctly, although some had residence times greater than one hour, navigability problems and long waiting lines with a large number of users.
In turn, the Superintendency noted in a statement that in some establishments the information provided to users was confusing regarding prices and in some cases buyers had to make virtual lines to access the products offered
Regarding advertising, most of the web pages indicated promotions and information related to the Day without VAT.

Similarly, the entity pointed out that most of the establishments offered promotions in parallel to the Day without VAT, but in some cases clear information was not provided about these, also at the time of making the purchase, the discount for the advertised promotion was not indicated or the one corresponding to the Day without VAT.
In some cases, the Superintendency pointed out, It was proven that some discounts announced on Friday, November 20, were not available during the third day of the Day without VAT.
“On some web pages the prices did not correspond to the VAT exemption or the discount of advertised promotions; In addition, there were some variations in the prices of the products. Also, in some cases it was observed that in the purchase summaries it was announced that the final value could be modified “said the entity in said statement.
Finally, in some stores the products that appeared as available on the page when added to the shopping cart reported that there was no product in existence, as well as it was evidenced that several sites did not indicate the number of products that were left in the establishment or if it was exhausted.
The Superintendency indicated that carried out this last day of the Day without VAT in the year, a verification will be made of the complaints and claims of the users, as well as the requirements and orders issued which are added to the 1778 complaints received by the entity in the last two days and the 270 complaints filed to the SIC in jurisdictional functions.
